'Tripe.Iscariot started as an experiment in flavour, texture and style. 7 years later it has been refined into a dedication to intensity in flavour, fineness in texture, and distinction in style.
I strive to achieve this set of ideals by only picking the best fruit possible for my wines, staying my hand when the fruit needs me to listen, and intervening when the fruit needs to listen to me.
As a winemaker in Margaret River I have a responsibility to ensure that every bottle of wine that I put that name onto is of the highest quality, thus I live as a winemaker by one rule alone:
I only make wines that I love to drink. '
Remi Guise - tripe.Iscariot Winemaker
Remi Guise came to Margaret River in 2007 from South Africa. He has found a new home in WA and has become one of the regions most exciting avant-garde winemakers. True to his South African Heritage he is considered one of Australia's best Chenin Blanc winemakers. His range of wines varies from classic Chardonnay and Cabernet to more esoteric and interesting styles.
JANE FAULKNER - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION
As of '17, Marrow's fruit is sourced from a different vineyard in Wallcliffe and, for the first time, is 100% syrah, with none of the malbec used to bolster previous renditions. What a fabulous wine. Heady aromas of warm earth and gravel, red fruits, florals and woodsy spices. It's medium-bodied, complex yet appearing effortless; succulent and savoury with superfine tannins.
MIKE BENNIE - THE WINE FRONT
Anticipated releases from this tearaway Margaret River wine producer! Savoury red of silky texture, mellow flow, succulence in tannins, cool acidity, really even red berry-red cherry fruit flavours, layers of brown spice, dried herb, bergamot tea character. I like this. It’s a charming wine, unfurls beautifully, shows plenty of detail, sets a benchmark for Margaret River syrah. Almost pinot-esque, one could say. Shake that thought, it’s a fine wine of refined feel and savouriness. Great stuff.
RICHARD HEMMING MW - JANCISROBINSON.COM
Peppery, reductive, herbal. Made in a youthful and fruit-forward style. Juicy and bright and simple with a straightforward, easy-going finish with that archetypal black-pepper spice lingering. Score: 16/20
