'Terrific chardonnay. Here’s one. This would get just about any wine lover excited. Three words: flavour and length. Oh, and texture too. Grapefruit, nectarine, citrus and nuts. Minerally/flinty shoots to the finish. Brilliant wine.'
95 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

  • Estate grown from the spectacular hillside vineyard in the Ferguson Valley of the Geographe wine region, fruit is sourced from the Victoria "gingin clone" block planted in 1995 and the Robba block which was planted in 2013 with the Burgundian clone 76.

Full flavoured, complex and textural, yet still lively and refreshing with refined tight grain french oak offering backbone support. Winemaking exudes minimalist technique to allow expression of site.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Estate grown from the spectacular hillside vineyard in the Ferguson Valley of the Geographe wine region, fruit is sourced from the Victoria "gingin clone" block planted in 1995 and the Robba block which was planted in 2013 with the Burgundian clone 76. The Victoria block highlights why the hills of the Ferguson Valley are so intriguing. Different aspects and unique soil profile of typically deep layers of ironstone gravelly loam, within the two blocks there exists distinctive characters.

A combination of hand picked, whole bunch pressed and machine harvested fruit, allowed to proceed directly to ferment with wild and cultured yeast in French oak barriques. After fermentation, the wine is assessed for fruit purity and lees complexity, and winemaking is then tailor made on a barrel by barrel basis, with each having its own identity.

A cold and wet Spring in 2016 shaped a milder vintage in 2017, which was further interrupted by February and March rains. The resulting conditions led to a lengthy ripening period, and a 2-3 week delay to start of vintage. Lower temperatures at ripening are beneficial to retain freshness and elegance, and wines of lower alcohol and crisp acidity.

    Alcohol - 13.4%

    TASTING NOTES

Pale colour, aromatic nashi pear, lemon and white scented flowers with a fragrant light toast. A precise palate of harmonious oak teamed with grapefruit and white fleshed fruit. Long , textural and clean.
