  • THE BRIEF
  • Cullen Wines vineyard is located in Wilyabrup, within the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. All Cullen Wines are grown on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. Grapes are harvested by hand on fruit and flower days according to the astrological calendar. Chief Winemaker Vanya Cullen is daughter of founders of Cullen and has transformed her family firm into one of the country's premium boutique wineries. Exemplary viticulture lies at the heart of their success, along with a talented team.

Cullen's Dancing in the Moonlight Rose is a light rose that pays homage to local red fruits. It has no additions of yeast, accid or malolactic culture and expresses the place and land on which it is grown, the vintage and the people.

  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • The grapes were exclusively picked from their Mangan and Cullen Vineyards. They were harvested from 23rd of February to 23rd of March 2018. Overall vintage conditions were very beneficial to the harvest. Great spring conditions contributed to healthy canopy growth and good shoot extension, leading into the summer months. The summer/ harvest conditions included average temperatures and above average rainfall which aided berry development and consistent event ripening of the fruit. This resulted in h ealthy, balanced yields and excellent fruit composure, with great intensity of flavor.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

Lifted notes of raspberry, strawberry and currants. Lush palate dominated by red fruits. Lovely notes red plum, wild strawberry and cranberry. Brilliant dry rosé for summer.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • On the advice of eminent agronomist Dr. John Gladstones, Dr. Kevin and Diana Cullen planted a trial acre of vines at Wilyabrup, Margaret River in 1966. Commencing in 1971, 18 acres of vines were planted on their sheep and cattle farm, including their first Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc were planted between 1976 and 1978.

MIKE BENNIE - THE WINE FRONT

Pale salmon colour. Rose water, rose hip flowers, light red berry notes, a touch of talc. Good scents. Light sweetness in the palate, chalkiness in texture, limey acidity under more rose hip tea and pomegranate juice. And it is juicy, but finishes dry. It's a lovely expression.'
