  • WHO MADE IT?
  • Geoff and Susan Bull were early viticultural pioneers on the East Coast of Tasmania, establishing Freycinet Vineyard in 1979. It is situated adjacent to the picturesque Freycinet Peninsula, (latitude 42 degrees), which is named in honour of the French explorer Louis de Freycinet, who chartered the region in 1802. The 15 hectare vineyard is proudly family owned and the wines are 100% grown, produced and bottled on our estate. The site is a warm sheltered one within the truly cool Tasmanian climate. The vineyards are meticulously hand tended to grow moderate yields of fully ripe healthy fruit. The rustic winery houses 'state of the art' equipment to ensure wine quality is not lost. The wines are produced with great care, dedication and passion - they are a delicious liquid expression of our unique place on earth, the varieties and the season.

JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION

Mainly G5V12 clone, 95% whole berry/5% whole bunch rotary fermented, 42-48 days on skins, matured for 14 months in French oak (18% new). Deep colour; a perfumed/oriental spice bouquet. A rich full-bodied (for pinot) palate with depth of fruit and tannins - the latter more obvious than expected.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Very deep, dark colour and a nose that suggests overripeness. Big, bold, rich and ripe, with aggressive tannins giving it a slightly bitter finish. It seems a little over-extracted. Time will help.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Youthful purple/red colour with a spicy, oaky, fumy, high-toned aromas that suggest alcohol vapour or volatile acidity. It's plain and slightly bitter, not really varietal, with assertive tannins that seem a little over-extracted. There is plenty of body-weight, and it ends with elevated alcohol.
