Heartwines is a passion project for legendary wine distributor Randall Pollard. He’s hand-selected some plots and some people around the country (Tessa Brown of Schmolzer and Brown and Mark Kelly are also making wines for the project in Victoria) to make his own ‘house wine’ if you will. But this is not the $5 special at your local pub, this is serious winemaking talent, pairing up with a titan of industry to bring you some insanely good wine at an unbelievable price.
Pollard describes the ‘Archie’ as ‘made in a very traditional and organic way’; whole berries, no oak, no stems, hand-plunged. This is a wine that was made in the vineyard. Looking after the 60-year-old bush vines, hand harvesting and keeping the winemaking process as simple as possible has lead to this aromatic, youthful and vibrant Grenache. It managed to bring home a 95 Point score in Yesterday’s Halliday Companion as well, and has been equally meritorious from the likes of The Wine Front’s Gary Walsh in the past, who dubbed the 2017 vintage
Grenache is having a (well deserved) moment right now in Australia and this is the kind of wine that makes it obvious why. So meet Archie. We promise you’re gonna love him.

Heartwines is an exciting project, a label that utilises enthusiastic non-interventionist winemakers who use locally grown fruit to make small and unique batches of hand-made wines. Tessa Brown of Schmolzer and Brown, Mark Kelly of Beechworth wine estates and of course Peter Fraser from Yangarra. Fraser was the first to join the project and makes the Archie Grenache.
