  • Lethbridge's Dr. Nadeson is a Germanic style, off-dry Riesling. Coming from some of the cooler sites in Victoria, winemaker Ray Nadeson has kept a small amount of residual sugar in the wine, to tame the natural acidity of cooler site Riesling. The result is a beautifully balanced, and eminently drinkable wine.

  • I started my Riesling journey with the Barrett’s vineyard in Henty, a sweet spot for this noble grape variety. Sadly in 2014 the vines were pulled, and the block sold for housing, thus a new journey began, to find another source of quality Riesling.

    In 2016 I found a great vineyard in Strathbogie which produced a wine of intensity and drive. In 2017 I turned my hand with fruit from King Valley and Geelong. Again, the wine was delicious, but my heart still yearned for Henty.

    In 2018, after 12 years of working with Jack and Louis Doeven in Drumborg they finally granted me access to their Riesling and the result is exactly why I covet this cool Victorian region. I hope you enjoy this wine as much as I enjoyed making it.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?


    Ripe quince, nashi pear and red apple notes are punctuated by apricot pith, sluicing across the palate on cylinders of juicy, natural acidity and a bit of pucker.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • Lethbridge Wines is a situated in the Moorabool valley in the Geelong wine region. They believe in the importance of terroir (soil, climate, aspect and bio-diversity) in the production of distinctive wines and that the best wines express the unique character of the special places from which they originate. Their philosophy is to practice organic techniques influenced by biodynamic methods to establish a healthy, balanced vineyard. By encouraging vigorous biological activity in the soil and eliminating the use of chemicals that can harm microorganisms, they are able to produce fruit of great flavour and character. Their winemaking encompasses the full range traditional techniques, from fermentations using indigenous yeast to pre- and post-fermentation maceration to produce the best tannin structure naturally. Extended lees contact is used for enhanced mouth feel, and all their oaked wines are made using the very best French oak barrels.

    Fruit from Drumborg (Henty). This release is towards the sweeter end of off-dry in style which is worth noting. Ripe Autumnal fruits (apples, pears, quinces etc) provide the essential aromas and flavours, with just a hint of wild honey. The dimension of the mouthfeel, and the brilliantly fine and lingering acidity are the wine's most distinguishing and enticing features.
