  • THE BRIEF
  • Marius et Jeannette is a classic French romance movie, set in the Riviera, that has a tag line of ' delicate, deceptively simple, and quite delicious. ' Who knew then that the screenwriters could have anticipated their words would apply so appropriately to its namesake Rose wine from the South of France some three decades later.

More than appropriate, the 2018 Marius & Jeannette Rose is a classic, southern, sun-drenched Rose from the Sud de France , that hits all the right notes and leaves nothing out of place. It's great, was a smash-hit at our internal tasting panel and for the money, we think you will be hard pressed finding a more crowd-pleasing style of wine than this. There's fruit a plenty, and a zingy lick of acidity that keeps this refreshing for a Summer tipple.

  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • This wine is produced from Grenache grapes grown on 15 to 20-year-old vines planted on clay limestone soils in the Languedoc region, between Montpellier and Sète, near the Mediterranean coast. Grenache is a quite rare grape variety which gives the best of itself when it grows in arid regions. The climate in this region is hot, dry and very sunny. The yields are low (65hl/ha). After a direct pressing, an extensive racking of the must takes place in order to obtain a very clear juice. The juice is then vinified as a white wine and fermented at low temperature (15°C). For this Grenache, there is no malolactic fermentation.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

A massive standout at our tasting panel, this rose is made from 100% Grenache and is a lovely easy to drink wine. Ripe red fruit aromas with hints of candied fruits and spice that continue onto the palate. Fresh, vivid and well rounded this is a delightful rosé.
