  • THE BRIEF
  • In line with the Penny's Hill mantra of white wines from outstanding Adelaide Hills 'Estates of Mates' this single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc shows purity, elegance, fine balance and bright natural acidity. All in perfect agreement!

  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • Grapes were destemmed, crushed and chilled prior to gentle pressing with only the free run component being used for this wine. Fermentation occurred in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks using a sequential yeast inoculation with two yeast strains to increase complexity, mouthfeel and texture. Juice was fermented at cool temperatures (12-13°C) to encourage retention of Sauvignon Blanc varietal characters and the wine was lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

An attractive bouquet of green melon, lemon pith and kiwifruit. This flavoursome wine has exceptional fruit intensity and is well balanced with purity, elegance and crisp minerality.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • From its first production of 141 cases of 1995 Shiraz, Penny's Hill has established a fine reputation for outstanding vineyards from which acclaimed estate wines have emerged. Very much a part of the recent McLaren Vale landscape, the Penny's Hill story commenced in 1988 with the purchase of the original vineyard site. The brand message: "Proudly Australian. More so McLaren Vale."

Winemaker Alexia Roberts consistently produces fine, full-bodied, fruit driven wines using premium estate-grown fruit from some of the best quality vineyards in the region. A meticulous approach every step of the way, from the narrow-planted, low yielding vineyards and throughout the winemaking process, Alexia’s wines deliver the ultimate balance of texture, complexity and interest.

JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION

Only free-run juice used with two sequential cultured yeast strains that enhance sauvignon blanc varietal character. Lemon pith, green pineapple and kiwi fruit all have their say. Good wine.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Herbal, vegetal aromas, with some compost notes, the palate crisp and dry with a little textural roundness and fleshiness. There is good intensity of flavour and length. It's focused and tight. I would enjoy a glass of this, especially with food.
