From the heart of the Beaujolais AOC comes this is extraordinarily great value Gamay. Made in the exacting traditional style of whole bunch berries and carbonic maceration, this is a bright, spritely, orchard fruit driven red that is high on the drinkability scale.
Philip Bouchard, one of the new wave of value-driven negociants coming out of Burgundy has set the tone high with this wine; showering you with cherries, blackberry, and plum jam, with a lingering crisp acidity and mid-weighted intensity. Few wines come close to matching this one on the old quality to price ratio. Your Summer red has landed. Served slightly chilled.
Vinification in stainless steel vats at 30°C for the semi-carbonic maceration. The wine then remains in the vats for 3 to 6 months.
Bright and vibrant with lifted red fruits, and an almost candied-cherry note. The palate is light and juicy, with nice acidity and lovely clean finish. Supremely drinkable.
Philippe Bouchard is a Burgundian negociant working with wines from both Burgundy and the Rhone, with wines spanning entry level products right through to Grand Cru Burgundy. Wines are very much built in the classic style, the winemaking halfway between non-interventionist and more modern methods.
