  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • This Single Vineyard Half Dry Riesling was handpicked in the early morning from the bottom half of our Riesling block and whole bunch pressed. Fermentation was cool and slow, with the ferment being stopped at 15 grams residual sugar. The wine was left in tank on lees for a further 4 months, stirring occasionally for further palate texture.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

A touch more residual sugar than normal in this vintage, to ensure it stays within the half-dry category. Once again showing those great lemon/lime citrus characters, with a nice pop of fruit which is balanced out nicely by the crisp, clean acidity.

  • WHO MADE IT?

    PATRICK ECKEL

Jacob Stein is producing some exceptional resiling, with the half dry style one that is hard to get right; but is nailed on this occasion. The nose enjoys concentrated notes of jasmine, mandarin zest and fresh limes against a backdrop of slate. The decision to leave 15g residual sugar has created a wine that has a mere suggestion of sweetness when contrasted with the energetic swathes of acidity that defines it. Lime dominates with some candied apple like characters from residual sugar on the mid palate, with the interplay of acid and fruit giving a chalky and mineral character to finish.

    STEVE LESZCZYNSKI - QWINE

Lemon sherbet, lime juice and Bickfords lime cordial. Some pith, chalky feels and tight acidity for the win. The sweetness lands early, as to be expected, but flushes out making me scramble for something Thai or Malaysian. Clean and crisp to finish, limes slide through with that whiff of Jasmine flowers calling me back. Bravo.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Pale-yellow colour and a lovely floral aroma, open and fresh and charming. The wine is juicy and fruity, soft and refreshingly lively on the tongue, the sweetness and acidity well-poised and harmonious. Delicious wine. This will reward a bit of cellar time.

TONI PATERSON MW - THE REAL REVIEW

Quite a delicate nose with gentle blossom aromatics. An assertive, high acid palate with juicy flavours, integrated sweetness and good drive.

    ANDREW GRAHAM - OZWINEREVIEW.COM

The most successful half dry Robert Stein Riesling to date. You barely notice the 15g RS with just a whisper of fruit tingle on the finish. Lemon/lime cordial with a tang and has a vitality to it. The dry Riesling is more refreshing, but high drinkability here still. 17.5/20.
