Baileys of Glenrowan is one of the pioneers of winemaking in North-East Victoria, producing its first vintage in 1870. Since this time, Glenrowan has become a world-renowned winemaking region. Baileys of Glenrowan continues to be recognised as an acclaimed producer of full-flavoured red and luscious fortified wines. Our founder, Richard Bailey, crafted our first Shiraz back in 1870. After the Baileys of Glenrowan vineyards became certified organic in 2011, we produced our first organic Shiraz in 2012. This wine is made in tribute to those traditional winemaking techniques, upgraded with modern influences. The result is a sustainable Shiraz of great character. REGION Glenrowan VINTAGE CONDITIONS An even growing season without any heat spikes allowed fruit to ripen slowly and be harvested at peak timing. Vines were well balanced also delivering ideal conditions for fruit to naturally vine ripen. WINEMAKING & MATURATION Made in open fermenters with the inclusion of 23% whole bunches, matured for 12months in a mixture of seasoned French oak.
COLOUR Bright Purple. NOSE/ AROMA Lifted florals and all spice. PALATE Flavours of fresh black berry and black forest all wrapped in traditional Baileys tannins. A beautiful fresh expression from Baileys with hall mark power and depth.
The Baileys of Glenrowan winery has a very long and cherished history, with the Bailey family first establishing the winery in 1870. This timeline was written with assistance of Vicki Bailey, the Great Grand- daughter of Varley Bailey.
JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION
What a turnaround from the '18 vintage - Baileys has backed off big time with extraction and oak to a more vibrant, even subtle, style. This is electrifying. Crunchy red fruit, spicy and tangy, medium-bodied with tensile tannins and an exuberance not seen before.
