Star bright in colour the appearance of this Riesling foretells the pristine and unalloyed quality of its fruit. With classic Riesling aromatics of citrus zest, lemon foilage and hints of dragon fruit flowers, etched by a clear steely minerality this wine holds the promise of a future, well-cellared bouquet of honey, caraway and rye. With a palate weight that is all fresh rain water, this is an attractively textural Riesling displaying the variety's intense purity. Bone dry, its structure and length is underpinned by austere acidity.
Dandelion Vineyards defies normal description, it is perhaps Australia's most quixotic fusion of vineyard and vigneron. Every bottle signs off with - Wish you were here... Every wine is sourced from a single site. Founder, owner, winemaker - Elena Brooks - is a polymath and perfectionist on a lifelong vinous treasure hunt, following the inspiration of the Dandelion Flower's Wishing Clock. Vineyards = Family. Wines = Children. Serious stuff. Proper fun, absolutely.
NED GOODWIN - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION
This is lightweight and rapier like of focus and length. Juicy natural acidity carrying the tail; Granny Smith apple, bath salts and citrus zest pushing across the attack. Picked on the earlier side to retain freshness, mercifully it is neither green, nor too harsh.
