La Maschera is part of the Carnival of Venice celebrations held each year in Veneto in the north-east region of Italy which is the home of the Pinot Grigio grape. The climatic conditions are somewhat similar to the maritime region of the Limestone Coast where the grapes for this wine were grown.
GARY WALSH - THE WINE FRONT
Grenache with a dash of Sangiovese. Pale, a la mode, subdued red fruit of mild sweetness, soft mouthfeel, subtle powderiness, good finish. It’s a lovely wine to drink, and very nicely done. Good with a chill, but also good as it warms up. Happy to drink this any day.
CAMPBELL MATTINSON - THE WINE FRONT
Grenache with some sangiovese in it, from Barossa Valley. A rose. A Yalumba-associated wine. Exceptionally pale and noticeably dry. It’s slight but in a good way. A savoury style, or a spicy one at least, with a ripple of textural cherry to keep it all flowing freely. High refreshment factor here.
