  • THE FINER DETAILS
  • The juice was pressed away from the skins within 4hrs of harvest to ensure that the colour of the rose was not too dark. 20% of this wine was fermented in old French oak puncheons (500L barrels) for complexity, while the remainder was fermented in a stainless steel tank to retain freshness. Both components were lees stirred to produce a creamy character in the wine, which also helps to soften the acid and make the mouthfeel more rounded.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • Located on the golden stretch of Seppeltsfield Road in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Whistler was established in 1999 by the Pfeiffer family, the German "Pfeiffer" translating to "Whistler" in English. The 15 hectare vineyard operates entirely under organic and biodynamic practices with Josh Pfeiffer at the helm. Josh is the next generation of Whistler custodians having returned to the winery in 2013 after a five year winemaking stint at Henschke and a further two years at Two Hands. Josh's "Next Gen" range of wines is all about fun and drinkability. Voted one of the Dark Horses in James Halliday's Wine Companion 2016 and Top 50 Young Guns of Wine for 2016 as well as taking out the People's Choice vote in each city around Australia for Game of Rhones in 2017, both Josh Pfeiffer and Whistler have fast become one of the winemakers and brands to watch in the Barossa.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Pale salmon-pink colour. Light floral and herbal aromas, straightforward and fragrant. A trace of sweetness among the racy, fresh palate enlivened by acidity. It tastes a bit white-winey. Jazzy textural effect.
