The Morgan's Vineyard was one of the oldest in the Adelaide Hills, selling fruit to the Knappstein family in particular.
While the Morgan's have now sold that block, the wine style remains the same - as illustrated by this easy and aromatic Pinot Gris.
With a little honeysuckle and passionfruit, the palate is fresh and lively, very crisp and so vital.
The wines bottled under the Morgan's Label have been sourced from a select group of small growers in the Adelaide Hills since 2010, the first of which was Owen Morgan. The 2020 vintage in Adelaide Hills was challanging with yeilds down, however the resulting fruit has great concentration and vibrancy.
It is a subtly perfumed Pinot Gris showing peach, pear and citrus scented fruits. It's on the palate this wine comes in it's own with balance and textural richness. Made in a style that will match well with food or drink on it's own.
Originally the Morgan's label was based around a single vineyard high in the Adelaide Hills near Lenswood, but is now a regional blend, picking out the best of the Hills. Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc is the focus, but with the occasional spicy Shiraz for good measure.
