Flor de Caña is a super premium, 5th generation single family estate rum from Nicaragua. Enriched by an active volcano, naturally aged without sugar and distilled 100% with renewable energy. Awarded 2017 "Best Rum Producer of the Year" by the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London and one of the first global spirits to be Fair Trade certified and sustainably sourced.
Flor de Cana's plantation and distillery lie in the foothills of the San Cristobal volcano. The ashes expelled by the volcano carry rich minerals and nutrients from the depth of the crater which then settle on the ground and create a fertilizing effect for the sugarcane. The land surrounding the volcano is naturally porous, so when it rains, the water easily infiltrates underground reservoirs carrying along rich minerals and organic matter from the surface. During the aging process, the high volcanic temperatures and Nicaragua's tropical climate contribute to the evaporation rate of the rum (the "Angel's Share") and foster a more intense and dynamic interaction between the barrel and the rum.
Flor de Caña is 100% naturally aged in small white oak premium bourbon barrels sealed with Nicaraguan plantain leaves, producing a distinguished and elegant rum with tropical notes. The undisturbed aging process contributes to the rum's remarkable amber color and rich flavor, without the use of artificial ingredients or accelerants and with zero sugar content.
A 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is full-bodied with a reddish amber colour. It has aromas of red fruits, honey and toasted nuts and a flavour with notes of wood, vanilla and baked apples, with a smooth and well-balanced finish. Best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or with a splash of premium sparkling water.
