Another innovative and delicious Gin from the folks at Four Pillars, the Bloody Shiraz Gin is a marriage between cool-climate Shiraz grapes and Four Pillars' Classic Dry Gin.
The Shiraz grapes are destemmed, but not crushed, and macerated in high proof Rare Dry Gin for a period of eight weeks. Through this long maceration, the tanks are stirred daily, and eventually pressed off, with more Gin being added to boost the ABV.
It's a bit like a classic Sloe Gin, but with the flavour profile of delicious, Victorian Shiraz. Expect piney, juniper-based aromas, mixed together with spice and dark berry fruit. There's an enticing sweetness on the palate, with soft tannins framing the peppery spice. It's unfiltered, so it will develop slightly over a period of time, and is recommended to be consumed within two years of release.
It's a beautiful sipping Gin that can be enjoyed simply over ice, but it also works with tonic and lemon, or in a range of fruit and gin based cocktails.
