DESCRIPTION
  • Kilchoman was the first distillery to be built on Islay in over 124 years. The distillery was founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills and is Islay’s only farm distillery, producing Single Farm Single Malt. Kilchoman is one of the few whisky distilleries in Scotland to remain independent.

Named after a famously dark and peaty loch overlooked by the distillery, Loch Gorm is a sherry cask single malt matured exclusively in oloroso casks, extracting the rich spicy character of the European oak as it ages in their Islay warehouses. Depending on the release, the ages of the barrels vary. For 2018, it's a vatting of 2007, 2008 and 2011 casks. Loch Gorm is the only whisky in the Kilchoman range to be finished in 100% sherry casks.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

    TASTING NOTES

    Nose:
Orange peel, cloves, caramel and mixed spice with waves of fruit cake and citrus.

Palate: A beautiful balance of spicy richness, cooked fruits, chocolate with layers of brown sugar sweetness and earthy peat smoke.

Finish: Mouth-filling peat smoke, lasting tropical sweetness, toffee and rich dried fruit.

  • REVIEWS

'The first edition of Loch Gorm appeared in 2013, and it remains the distillery’s only whisky to be fully matured in sherry casks. The 2018 iteration comprises the contents of nineteen oloroso sherry butts filled in 2007, 2008, and 2011, the oldest of which are some of the first sherry casks filled at Kilchoman. These rich, confident aged whiskies converge in the best Loch Gorm to date, showcasing the expression’s trademark blend of succulent sherry, cooked fruits, and earthy peat, along with flavors of honey, ginger, sultanas, and spice.'
