This is a masterstroke from whisky doyen Michel Couvreur.
Who else could even conceive of combining new-make spirit from Scotland, and barrels from the Jura, once containing Vin Jaune? Add in 10 years of ageing in his Burgundian cellar, and you have an exceptional (and rare) whisky.
5 Vin Jaune casks from renowned producer, Stephane Tissot, were used to age the whisky, which was bottled in 2019 at 10 years of age. The whisky was bottled at cask strength, showing a wonderful balance of savoury, Vin Jaune flavours, and expressive malt whisky character. The whisky was bottled without any filtration, so a light sediment from the veil of flor yeast may remain.
The barrel selection and maturation of the Michel Couvreur whiskies is now under the careful hand of Cyril Deschamps and Jean Arnaud-Frantzen. Together, they work under Michel's enduring philosophy, Virtute et Opera - Through virtue and effort.
