'Very complex, rich and mouth-filling, but also lively - a remarkable balancing act.'

Charles is a confirmed traveller and free-spirited, smooth-talking gentleman entrepreneur, focused on his champagne business. His elegant eloquence is much admired. His impetuosity is impressive. His champagnes embody his personality: emblematic and unique.
The Charles' wine represents a world of elegance and indulgence.
It is beautifully balanced and captivatingly complex. The quality demands meticulous attention.
A fine-tuned dose of unconventional decisions at each step of the champagne production process.
To the eye: A sophisticated powdery pink robe with luminous glints of wild rose. Delicate, vivacious bubbles are a result of a ageing period of over 48 months.
On the nose: The subtle, yet complex nose reveals an initial fragrances of home-made strawberry jam mixed with the fruitiness of vineyard peaches. Warm velvety notes of gingerbread.
On the palate: The deep powerful mouthfeel offers a burst of strawberry, raspberry and blackberry nestled in velvety whipped cream.

'Radiant freshness of bright acid drive serves to heighten precise red cherry and tangy strawberry fruit and rose petal fragrance, as well as lifting its mouthfilling chalk mineral structure, intricately entwined with superfine, expertly handled tannin structure. The result exudes all the creamy, silky delight that we adore of Charles, with definition, freshness and astonishing persistence like never before.'

'Medium to full orange/copper hue. Very complex bouquet of smoky roasted nuts, quince paste, earth and truffles, mushrooms and toasted bread nuances. Very complex, rich and mouth-filling, but also lively - a remarkable balancing act. You don't notice the 11 grams/litre of dosage. An intense, high-impact wine, which also manages to dance. (Base year 2008; 20% reserve wines)'

'Charles Hiedsieck’s Rose Reserve is the least emphatic of the current range – it was the one I felt least compelled to re-try – but then Rose Champagne rarely makes my heart beat faster. Twenty percent reserve wine.
Full-bodied, creamy, strawberried style. Noticeable strike of sinewy tannin. Pale, salmon, coppery colour. Spicy, almost stalky, yet the overlay of red berried fruit keeps it soft and voluptuous. Creamy vanillin through the finish. Balance a key feature.'
