DESCRIPTION
  • The De Venoge Maison has been producing Champagne since its founding in 1837. There are three levels of wine produced - the house style, Le Cordon Bleu, the Cuvee des Princes, a tribute to the Princes of Orange, and the Louis XV prestige vintage Champagne, the pinnacle wine for De Venoge. The Cuvee des Princes and the Louis XV Prestige are bottled in elegant carafe-style bottles, which hark back to a time when European aristocracy of the 20th century, would decant their Champagne in crystal carafes.

The Princes Blanc de Noirs NV is 100% Pinot Noir, and a mixture of Premier and Grand Cru sites in Verzenay and Les Riceys. Based entirely on the 2012 vintage (not declared), the wine shows an abundance of ripe, red fruits, with a wonderfully balanced acidity and freshness.

Stephan Reinhardt from the Wine Advocate calls Champagne de Venoge, 'an underrated rising star in the Champage region.' High praise indeed.

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Assemblage: 100% Pinot Noir, 80% from Verzenay, 20% from Les Riceys. All 2012 vintage
    Disgorged: 2017
    Dosage: 6g/L
    Time on lees: 48 months

    TASTING NOTES

Classic brioche characters sit above red apple fruit and honeyed nut tones. A richer, fuller-bodied wine with white peach and dough on the palate, red forest fruits, together with cashew nuttiness and citrus zest freshness. The mousse is firm and textured, with a long and honeyed finish.

  • REVIEWS

'This NV Princes Brut Blanc de Noirs is 100% Pinot Noir and is entirely based on the 2012 vintage (80% from Verzenay and 20% from Les Riceys). Disgorged in July 2017 with a dosage of six grams per liter, this bottling opens with an intense but fine bouquet of red fruits and some ethereal notes like fir needles and juniper. On the palate, this is a mouthful of round, fresh and delicate Champagne! It is seriously structured yet very finessed, lithe, elegant and persistently aromatic, with lovely cherry and black currant flavors in the finish. Just gorgeous! Tasted November 2017.'
