DESCRIPTION
  • The idea of Grand Siècle was born from a simple observation: that nature would never provide the perfect oenological year. But through the art of blending, Laurent-Perrier hoped to create it. Going well beyond rare vintages, Grand Siècle is assembled choosing not one but three exceptional years which complement each other perfectly. Then at least 8 years of ageing in their cellars before it can be enjoyed! According to Laurent-Perrier, the aim of Grand Siecle is to ‘blend the best with the best to obtain the best.’

  • WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Made up with a majority of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wine is assembled exclusively from 11 of the Champagne region’s 17 Grands Crus plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. For Pinot Noir: Ambonnay, Bouzy, Mailly, and for Chardonnay: Avize, Cramant and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger - 100% Grand Crus. The wine is then aged for 7 to 8 years before disgorgement. A blend of 3 outstanding years declared as vintage by Laurent-Perrier, chosen for their complimentary traits: one year for structure, one year for finesse and one year for freshness.

    TASTING NOTES

Star bright in character with a fine effervescence. An intense and complex nose of slightly candied fruits, followed by aromas of fresh pastry, grilled almonds, subtle hints of honey and gingerbread. Well-rounded and developed, the wine brings a feeling of fullness while its beautiful minerality leaves an outstanding sensation of freshness - Grand Siècle offers a perfect balance between strength and delicacy.

  • REVIEWS

'A blend of vintages chosen to contribute differing qualities, this does achieve the goal of all-round appeal with bright lemon, peach and melon fruits, fresh bready nuances and some deeper spice. The palate has a richness to it that speaks to quality vineyard selection. Plenty of flesh and handy balance. Drink now.'

'Strongly toasty bouquet, with a lot of richness and aged complexities. A touch of dry-straw, almost resiny aroma. Very good mousse, rich and mouth-filling foaminerss, creamy texture and very dry. Rich and powerful. Serious Champagne, very good length and line. Superb.'
