Fresh aromas of iced pastries and a little touch of creamy lees, the palate lemon, citrusy and bracingly crisp, with the acidity bared for the world to see, unencumbered by liqueuring. Rivettingly fresh and bright and zesty. The palate line is superb and the finish extends out long and full of energy. A delicious wine and it would be great with oysters. (Zero dosage, otherwise same wine as the Brut Reserve)

This producer gives this style of bone-dry Champagne just the right bottle aging to allow it soften and fill out with ripe fruit. Of course, it still has crispness as well as a tight mineral texture. Together with the fruit, the elements are balanced, right in place, giving a wine that is ready to drink.

Based on the 2014 vintage and incorporating 25% reserve wines from the 2013, 2012 and 2011 vintages, the NV Extra Brut Pure offers up notes of crisp peaches, iodine, green apple and freshly baked bread. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, tensile and racy, with none of the asperity that some zero dosage Champagnes can reveal, concluding with a chalky finish. This is a well-balanced Extra Brut that fits in well in Pol Roger's impressively consistent portfolio.

Disgorged inSeptember 2017, Pol Roger's NV Extra Brut Pure has a terribly clear and refreshing bouquet of white fruit and floral aromas along with very fine brioche tones. On the palate, this undosed Champagne is pure, linear and fresh and reveals a good, tightly structured and persistent finish with stimulating (lemon/grapefruit) bitters. Assembling all three main grape varieties of the region in equal parts, the wine is aged for at least four years on the lees. Tasted June 2018.
