  • Tawny red with an orange hue and an amber halo.

    WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

A luscious bouquet releasing aromas of fruit (grapefruit, apricot, almonds, hazlenuts and cocoa), vanillan oak, roasted flavours (cinnamon, caramel, coffee) and a hint of spirit. Fine and delicate with an elegance sustained by the complex interplay of ripe and dried fruits. Harmonious, fresh and velvety on the palate ending on a round long finish of richness and generosity.

  • WHO MADE IT?
  • The House was founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880. The excellent quality of the wines and the innovative packaging, supported by an advertising campaign based on posters by some of the most famous artists of the time, led to the early success and notoriety of Ramos Pinto. Today, as majority shareholders, the Louis Roederer Family Group perpetuates the policy of quality by continuing to invest in varietal research and viticultural methods combined with respect for tradition and service. Among Port producers, Ramos Pinto has the largest holding of estate vineyards proportionate to wine produced. The Quintas are located in the delimited areas of Cima-Corgo for Quinta do Bom-Retiro and Quinta do Urtiga, and Douro Superior for Quinta da Ervamoira.

HUON HOOKE - THE REAL REVIEW

Pale tawny/amber colour: genuinely old looking wne. Marvellous bouquet of great complexity and mellow savouriness. Superb flavour, very complex and multi-layered, and it has real elegance - it's not a fruit bomb nor carying too much sweetness, and it's not a big wine. Very long and fine. A stand-out wine, fairly dry aftertaste within the context of the genre.

    DECANTER

A powerful and expressive perfume of honey, tar and burnt orange flows from the glass, with a macerated cherry and nut complexity on the palate. It still has chew to it alongside freshness and nice vivacity.

    WINE SPECTATOR

This Port shows plenty of caramel, egg yolk and slightly salty character. Full-bodied, with a big impact on the palate of toffee, candied fruits and honey. Very long finish. Excellent. Ramos-Pinto is a master of old tawnies. Drink now.
