How did you get started in the wine industry?
My passion for wine began when I started working in the restaurant industry. I understood the creativity that happens in the kitchen with a Head Chef, but working on the floor of some great restaurants made me realise that wine was the loud speaker for the chef's creativity. This led me to want to focus on wine only and the creativity that happens in a vineyard/winery.
I am so often amazed at how Winemakers from right around the world can create such masterpieces from what the earth has given them.

What are you drinking right now?
Verum Ulterior Garnacha Parcela 6 2017 is one of the nicest reds I have tried in a while. I find it pays to be adventurous.

What inspires you about working in the wine industry?
The tenacity of winemakers and viticulturalists to work in an ever-changing climate, and their innovation in playing with grape varieties.

What are you drinking right now?

I'm happy with a rich golden buttery Chardonnay - and one that really took me by surprise was the San Marzano Edda. It’s a big old-school Chardonnay from Puglia that tastes exactly like the Rosemount Roxburgh vineyard Chard or Richmond Grove. It's perfect with burnt butter and sage gnocchi. Buon appetito!

What inspires you about working in the wine industry?
As a Personal Wine Advisor, I genuinely get a thrill from working and sharing stories with like-minded people. It’s inspiring and fun with no day being the same, one minute I’m yapping away about a big Aussie oaky Chardy and the next discussing the merits of Left Bank vs Right Bank Bordeaux – it’s great!

What are you drinking right now?
It’s a toss up between the 2019 Cave d’Aze Bourgogne Blanc with its gloriously mouthcoating creamy flavours and the 2021 Mount Langi Ghiran x The Wine Collective Pinot Gris which is oh-so-delicately fruited, crisp, clean & delightful.
But since I've been told to only pick one, click here to see where I landed.

When did you realise you wanted to work in wine?
As soon as I started drinking wine I wanted to learn more about the industry. It's a creative space where winemakers can put their own stamp in a bottle. People like Elena Brooks (Heirloom, Dandelion & Sister’s Run) with her inspirational story coming from Bulgaria during the demise of the Soviet Union, contribute to the vast tapestry of Australian wine.

What are you drinking now?
Elena’s masterpiece of course… The 2018 Dandelion Lion’s Den Shiraz from McLaren Vale. It’s $20 well spent.
