2017 Mystery Clare Valley Shiraz Deal No. 52
The Collective Review
Don't you have the patience to put a dozen wines into the cellar and then wait seven years to try the wine and find out you don't like it??
This wine is for you! 94 points, and we've done the seven years of cellaring for you. We tried the wine and loved it. Not only that, we are offering it to you at a sizeable discount through TWC.
Clare Valley Shiraz doesn't probably have the brand recognition of its close neighbour in the Barossa, but those in the know have realised that the Clare Valley has old gnarly vines, cool climate and old school mentality - wines with intense, rich fruits, without the over blown oak.
Wonderfully ripe and enticing, the bouquet shows dark fruit richness, vanillin oak, smoked game and toasted spice aromas, followed by a concentrated palate offering terrific weight and powerful fruit intensity. Gorgeously framed by velvety texture and layers of polished tannins, finishing sumptuous and delicious. At its best: now to 2030 Read more

Deep blood red hue. Still very young, this is noticeably quite powerful. A serious Shiraz with a long and exciting future. The notes of blackcurrants, cloves, leather, bay leaves and black olives are very much to the fore whole dark chocolate provides delicious support. This is seamless on the palate with bright acidity and silky tannins plus a very long finish which maintains the intensity. A wine which still has room to improve. Drink now and for 10 to 20 years.
