Blood plum, kirsch, ferrous notes and red dirt – these are the regional hallmarks of Frankland River shiraz, and once you smell them, it's hard to see anything else. This is plush and structured, with a 50/50 split of savoury spice and sweet fruit. Engaging, and bloody brilliant value for money. Elegantly muscled.

A beautiful shiraz from this excellent season in Frankland River. It’s so soft and plush with a velvety smooth palate based on a harmonious integration of fruit, understated oak and chalky tannins. There’s a faint hint of ironstone rust that brings further complexity. Medium weight and stylish.

Tasting Notes

Lifted violet perfume with blue fruits, white pepper and Asian spice. Concentrated and silky palate showing red and black fruits, jube with hints of aniseed and peppercorn. Subtle tannin and balanced acidity lead to a long even finish.

Winemakers Note

A dry growing season throughout the Great Southern resulted in significantly lower yields across all varieties. The warm conditions and continued low rainfall thru the ripening period created very low disease pressure. The result was one of the earliest vintages on record which produced small bunches of high-quality fruit with concentrated flavours and intensity.

Combination of picks from estate and other northern Frankland sites fermented separately. Destemmed whilst retaining as much whole berry as possible. Cold soaked, plunged and pumped over through the peak of fermentation. Pressed to barrique and hogshead for 9 months maturation before barrel selection, fining and bottling early February.
