Tasting Notes
The 2021 Katnook Founders Chardonnay from Coonawarra is a truly delightful white wine. Its pale golden colour reveals its pure and fresh character. On the nose, aromas of honeydew melon, pineapple and white flowers are complemented by subtle hints of hazelnut and butter. On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced with generous flavours of ripe stone fruit and citrus, complemented by a creamy texture and a refreshing acidity. Its medium-long finish is beautifully lingering with subtle oak notes. A wonderful example of the region’s signature Chardonnay.
Winemakers Note
Vintage 2021 in Coonawarra has all the
hallmarks of a brilliant one. Mother
Nature was very kind to us from
flowering until harvest. Nearly ideal
conditions have produced wines of great
flavour and lovely natural acidity.
Matured for 5 months in 10% new
French oak and old oak, this wine
displays a seamless blend of rich fruit
and extended oak maturation.
