From a block planted at 950m that is regularly draped in snow, this finely honed and beautifully detailed Pinot Noir feels like the breath of fresh air Orange Pinot Noir has been needing.
Think the high-toned raspberry and gently leafy aromatics that you'd more likely see in the chilly Macedon Ranges than central NSW, complemented by a palate that walks that tightrope between pretty fruit delicacy and more firm, drying power.
What a wine. What a statement, with this 12.4% alcohol red more like a slice of German Spatburgunder than some lush Yarra Pinot.
Indeed, this Rowlee feels like an essential reminder of how far Australian (and significantly, Orange) Pinot Noir has come.

Tasting Notes
Light ruby in colour with lifted aromas of cherry, red berry and blood plum. The palate is bright with sour cherry, fresh raspberries and cranberries and a hint of spice. Bright fruit flavours are balanced with fine, soft tannins. Aging in French oak and clonal selection add layers of complexity and finesse. Enjoy now or cellar for many years to come. Winemakers Note
The fruit was hand harvested in two parcels on 14 and 21 March 2021 ensuring perfect fruit ripeness. Following harvest, the wine was immediately transported to the winery where it was de-stemmed to a small open fermenter and cold soaked for five days. The fermentation took place for 10 days with plunging by hand twice a day. Following this, it was gently pressed off and transferred to French oak barriques. After nine months of maturation the wine was blended and bottled in January 2022.
