The Collective Review

Procella (Latin for ‘tempest’) is a range of wine dedicated to producing the best that Southern NSW has to offer. This Chardonnay is bright and enticing on the nose, with apricot, nectarine and a generous squeeze of juicy, fresh lemon. On the palate, mouthwateringly ripe stonefruit flavours guide you through an intense palate, then it finishes with a welcome nutty complexity.

In other words, it’s a bloody delicious example of a cool climate Chardonnay.

The history of Tumbarumba is one that has been built in waves; from early explorers to cattle stations, through the gold rush days and eventually into wine. The first grapes were planted in 1981 but the actual wine region wasn’t established until the early-mid 1990’s.

The ‘Tralee’ Vineyard is the largest in Tumbarumba and was originally established in 1993 by the region’s founder, Ian Cowell. In 2011, the owners of the old ‘Tralee’ site decided to call it quits and intended to dig up the vines. Determined to not let that happen, Jason and Alecia Brown came to the vineyard’s rescue - and that is where the story of Coppabella begins.

It’s the only 5-star Halliday rated winery in Tumbarumba, and the Browns’ aim is to produce wines that focus on varietal & regional integrity, culminating into wines of superb quality & flavour.

Coppabella currently doesn't have a cellar door and isn’t open to the public, so your best chance of tasting their delicious drops are online - like right here, right now!

Tasting Notes

The colour of pale straw, bright citrus and grapefruit aromas with hints of flint, matchstick and spicy oak. The palate is vibrant, expressive and seamless. A complex wine with layers of zingy grapefruit, white apple, nectarine and toast. The generous palate is in perfect tension with the tight, mineral acidity. A complete and harmonious wine.
