The Montvalley vineyard in the Hunter Valley couldn't produce enough quality grapes for his stunning Hunter Shiraz for three years with consecutive terrible vintages. So, when life gives you lemons, you make hearty, dark-fruited Shiraz from the McLaren Vale.
John sourced a top-quality vineyard in the Vale as the source of this Limited edition Shiraz, with only 400 cases made. One taste and you can see immediately, this is a wine that is made with such attention to detail that belies the price. Bright red fruit, excellent aromas on the nose and a wine to have in the rack for your midweek tipple.
Its brightly fruited and beautifully lifted on the nose, showing dark plum, tar, floral, clove and assorted nut aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's juicy and plump. Attractively composed and harmonious with a lengthy silky finish. At its best: now to 2030. Read more

Juicy, lots of dark ripe black fruits on the nose, that follow to the palate. Loads of flavour.Great example of what Mclaren Vale does so well, full bodied, juicy Shiraz. Very enjoyable

"The MV range is wine sourced from Mclaren Vale, in vintages when our Hunter Valley vineyard can't supply enough Shiraz grapes for Shiraz and we can only produce Rose. Shiraz is my favourite grape so I need to have Shiraz to drink! I take my same exacting standards and pick the eyes out of some great parcels of Shiraz grapes and then let Dan take control, making wines that we love to drink. Contains traces of egg in fining."
