The Collective Review

This six pack will warm you from head to toe but not quite the way you might have imagined. At TWC we thought this Winter, why not put together a versatile mix of inspired red wines, that will have you sitting up out of your lounge chair and going WHOA!

We have sourced the pretty delicate and poised bottles, spice laden savoury numbers and richly textured and age worthy reds to make you blush. You’ll be set with this Premium Winter Warmer six pack and not need to come outdoors till the snow melts in Thredbo Here’s what we have included to keep you galvanised against the ghoulish weather.

Mount Macleod Pinot Noir 2021 Mount Macleod is the second label from Caledonia Australis, who have made a name for themselves in artisan victoria Pinot Noir. Organically grown and wild fermented with 10% whole bunches and matured in both concrete vessels for pristine fruit freshness and used oak for barrels for the addition of warm baking spices. There is a wave of silky tannins and a long line of acid that runs down the middle palate. This has true Gippsland Pinot Noir character.

John Duval Plexus Red 2021 A juicy and fruity red with blackberry and some dark chocolate and graphite character. Lead pencil, too. Medium-bodied with creamy and integrated tannins and a juicy finish. Savory and delicious. 94 Points James Suckling

Gancedo Bierzo Xestal Mencia 2014 Mencia is a specialty grape from North West Spain, that is a bit of a chameleon of a variety. Adapting to its terroir and showcases numerous styles. It’s usually quite medium bodied that has floral aromatics and rocky minerality. This one is made from closely planted bush vines and comes to us straight from the cellars of Biezo where it has been ageing for at least five years. It is intense with red fruits and spice and incredibly persistent.

A daring wine that's got as much mineral acidity as dry tannins, and that combination really sets it alight. Enormous energy and brightness at the long finish. 93 Points James Suckling

Schoolhouse Shiraz 2020 There is also a little 96 Point Shiraz that hails from the famed Coonawarra in the Limestone Coast. Here’s a few words from the critics

Powerfully concentrated with crème de cassis, cigar box, tapenade and violet characters, combined with excellent weight and density, beautifully framed by fine chalky tannins. 96 Points Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Now that's worth being studious for, we also have included.

Greenock Creek "Special Bottling" Shiraz Cabernet 2019 Greenock Creek "Special Bottling" Shiraz Cabernet 2019 - This exploratory project sources fruit from trusted growers in the Rosedale, Tanunda, Koonunga, Lyndoch and LIght Pass parishes of the Barossa wine-growing area. It’s full of black fruits, chocolate and sweet spice with lithe, elegant and velvety tannins. The earthiness from the cabernet migles with soft oak and gives the wine a rich and pleasing palate filling mouth-feel.

What a wine, This length and complexity is out of this world. TWC tasting team

Tascante Etna Ghiaia Rosso 2020 A Sicilian Nerello Mascalese, from the steep slopes of Mount Etna to keep the lava in your heart bubbing away. Aromas of baked black cherry, charred rosemary and dried rose. Medium-bodied with fine, silky tannins. Smoky and pleasantly savory on the palate. I like the lingering finish here. 94 points James Suckling
